CELEBRATING TEAM SUCCESS!

Dominican University - Institute for Adult Learning - River Forest, IL. - Dr. Thomas was selected and created the first Masters-level educational program in Sports Leadership in the Chicagoland area. Housed within the Masters of Organizational Leadership Program at the IAL, the Sports Leadership Concentration provides students with advanced courses and seminars on the leadership of professional, intercollegiate, interscholastic, and recreational sports organizations and the sports industry. (January 2007)

Bolingbrook Youth Leadership Program
- Bolingbrook, IL, sponsored by the T-Wolves Parents Association, the Dennis family, and in Association with the ATDF, Dr. Thomas was the featured speaker and presenter on Leadership and Our Youth.  Youth ages 13-14, their parents, and friends, as well as members of the Bolingbrook Community participated in this interactive program presentation.  (December 2006)

Youth & Community Development - Leadership Development Programs
- ATDF presents its series of professional and leadership development programs in communities around the US. The YCD-LDP provides training and professional development opportunities for teachers, coaches, youth and community workers, parents, and concerned citizens seeking to improve the lives of children and youth in their communities. The first YCD-LDP program will be offered at the Family First Support Center, in Waukegan, IL. Additional sites include Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA, Charlotte,NC, Indianapolis, IN, Jacksonville, FL, Wichita, KS, and Gary, IN. (Beginning September 2006)


St. Martin De Porres Catholic High School - Dr. Thomas was selected as the Curriculum Specialist for Leadership Development while also serving as the Physical Education and Athletics Director. (January 2005)

International Visitors Center of Chicago selected Dr. Thomas as a Citizen Diplomat, to Host Mr. Park Jae Man, Sports News Director for Seoul Broadcasting Service (SBS) and Former Director of Media for the Seoul Olympics  in Seoul, South Korea. (October 2004) Dr. Thomas and Mr Park had a spirited dialogue with Sports Management students regarding the impact of the media on events leading up to and beyond the Seoul Olympics.

The National Black Public Relations Society, 6th Annual Conference and Career Fair, in Chicago - Dr. Thomas was selected to serve as the Panel Moderator. He directed the Panel entitled, The Glitteratti: Handling High Profile Clients in Sports & Entertainment Management. Panelist included: Karen Mayo, President & Founder of Mayo Communications International; Heather M. Nelson, Entertainment & Criminal Defense Attorney, The Law Office of Heather M. Nelson; and Cliff Russell, Senior Director of Communications for the Detroit Tigers (MLB). (September 2004)

Dr. Thomas partnered with Dele-Jane Osawe, a Doctoral Student at Argosy University Chicago and the Former Chairperson for Youth, Sports, and Culture for the then Bendel State of Nigeria, to investigate the Management and Administrative policies and procedures for Sports Managers and Officials in Africa [Nigeria and Cameroon] (2004).

Columbia College Chicago - Dr. Thomas slected as an Featured Speaker for multiple sessions on The Business of Professional Sports. Topics covered included: Sports Leadership and Human Resource Management, Leadership & Governance of Sports Programs, The Role of Sports Agents, Financing Sports Program & Venues, and Ethics in Sports (April - December 2003)

The
Sao Paolo - Illinois Chapter of Partners of the Americas - Selected Dr. Thomas to Chair the Youth & Sports Development Committee. This committee and organization works to establish linkages and partnerships between governmental, business, and educational agencies to support youth development activities in Sao Paulo, Brasil and the State of Illinois. Dr. Thomas worked with the SP - IL Chapter to host 5 Brasilian Youth Ambassadors in Chicago. Click here to read an article published by Dr. Thomas on the BYA Visit (January 2004)

NCAA National Youth Sports Program
- Dr. Thomas was selected and served as the Educational Enrichment Specialist for the NYSP at Johnson C. Smith University.

North Carolina Department of Transportation
- Dr. Thomas was selected to develop and train DOT staff on Wellness and Personal Development.

Charlotte Parks & Recreation
selected Dr. Thomas and the Regional Training Consultants from TMG to develop a Youth Leadership Development Program.

JCSU All-Star Basketball Camp
- Dr. Thomas was selected to develop and direct the new Leadership Program for participants ages 10 - 17.

American Football Instructional Camps
- Newcastle -upon-Tyne, Great Britain - In partnership with the Newcastle City Council and the Sports and Leisure department, Dr. Thomas created and provided direct instruction and coaching in American Football techniques, strategies, and game situations for youth ages 8-16.


Hunting Park Community Center
- Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Thomas was the first Sports Supervisor for the Center and directed the sports, fitness, and wellness activities for youth in this culturally and ethnically diverse Philadelphia community.


National Black MBA Association Chicago Chapter - Dr. Thomas was selected as a Featured Speaker/Panelist on The Courtship of the African American Vote(April 2004)

Mars Hill Baptist Church selected Dr. Thomas, a member since October 2003, to assist the Church with its Leadership Development Initiatives and its Educational/Leadership programs for the Illinois State Baptist Convention (June 2004

Argosy University Chicago - Dr. Thomas selected to teach the initial course, Team Management, offered in the New Educational and Organizational Leadership Doctoral Program (August 2003)

Dr. Thomas partnered with Dr. Julio Llosa (de Furfan) of the Centro de Liderazgo, de la Universidad de Peruana de Sciencias in Lima, Peru to present Leadership Initiatives for Special Olympics Latin America, its executive leadership team and the National Executives and program officers in Latin America

Thompson's Children's Homes selected TMG to provide Teambuilding Training for its staff and administrators

Johnson C. Smith University's Division of Lifelong Learning selected TMG and Dr. Thomas to develop and facilitate its initial Leadership Institute (Leadership In the New Millennium)

Project S.O.S. - TMG and Dr. Thomas were selected to develop Federal Grant application and funding strategies for Youth Abstinence Program


Back to School Rally - Family First Support Center at Jesus Name Apostolic Church - Dr. Thomas selected to speak with parents and concerned citizens regarding school issues, schools as centers of the community, and parental involvement in schools and communities (August 2006 & 2005)

Taste of Mars Hill - Mars Hill Baptist Church - Dr. Thomas presents on Designing your Own Personal Fitness Program and leads church and community members on a Walk for Wellness (July 2005)

Chicago State University Career Fair - Dr. Thomas was selected as the Featured Speaker. His session on Interviewing, Networking & Professionalism was well received by the students and staff of CSU (October 2004)

Kennedy-King College - TMG & Dr. Thomas selected to Kick-off the New Entrepreneurship & Franchise Development Certificate program. Dr. Thomas presented sessions on Leadership, Management, Customer Service, and Business Plan Development (November 2003 - January 2004)
