Youth Leadership Academy (YLA)
The A.T. Davis Foundation, Inc. is pleased to present The Youth Leadership Academy (YLA). The YLA is an intensive program that introduces young people to the leadership process, structures and activities needed for leadership roles, and skills and abilities needed for young people to assume leadership roles in their homes, in the schools, and in their communities.

The YLA can best be characterized by its ability to act as a thorough overview, introduction, and refresher at the same time. Participants will learn about the art and science of leadership. YLA participants will gain a solid understanding of the following topics and activities:
1) Youth as Leaders in the 21st Century, 2) Conflict Resolution and Problem Solving, 3) Diversity and Cultural Awareness, 4) Cooperation and Collaboration, 5) Dreams, Goals, and Career Planning, 6) Clarifying and Sharing Values, 7) Creative Thinking and Innovation, 8) Developing Positive Mental Attitudes, 9) Effectively Communicating with Others, 10) Self-Esteem and Self-Expression, 12) Time and Stress Management, 13) Test Taking and Study Skills) 14) Service to the Community, 15) Leadership Games and Activities, and 16) Other Leadership Issues and items as they arise during the YLA

Through the completion of interactive exercises and activities, participants will have numerous opportunities to demonstrate and practice their leadership skills and to put the proven leadership strategies, tools, and best practices they’ve learned into practice.

The YLA is designed for both the beginner looking for a thorough introduction and the intermediate looking for a refresher course that will strengthen their leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities. Simply put, the YLA is designed to get results by creating and fostering the leadership talents possessed by young people.
In four (4) interactive, informative, and insightful days, participants will be exposed to the art and science of leadership and led on a journey that end with them taking steps to become leaders in their homes, their schools, and in the communities.
