Balancing the Books: Finance for Managers
(15 CPDUs, 3 CEUs)
This course will present an overview of the accounting process to gain an understanding of how costs and revenues are determined, processed, and reported. This is done in a context of using the information to make managerial decisions that will have a financial impact. You will learn:

- How to read basic financial statements

- The basics of cost behavior and its impact on cost management

- The cost flow verses cash flow process

- The impact of leadership decisions on financial statements

Building Effective Communication Skills

(15 CPDUs, 3 CEUs)
These sessions examine communication processes and practices and stress the importance of taking responsibility for your communication activities. Specific topics include perception, communication process, listening skills, and communication rules. The student will learn:
- How one's self-concept influences communications
- The importance of feedback
- How only "I" am responsible for effective communication
- The importance of good listening
- Why managers should welcome disagreement
- How to read nonverbal communication

Conflict Resolution & Negotiation
(15 CPDUs, 3 CEUs)
The challenge of conflict is less how to eliminate it and more how to manage it in a way that leads to improved performance and effective working relationships. The student in this course will learn:
- To distinguish positive conflict from negative conflict

This training focuses on understanding how prejudice and discrimination can be manifested in the workplace and will help the student become aware of multi-cultural differences to bring about acceptance of each individual as unique. In this course you will learn:

Effective Decision Making & Problem Solving

Provides a seven-step process for solving problems, making decisions, and effectively implementing solutions. Skills learned include how to:

Effective Meeting Management

Examines different types of meetings (informational, problem solving, staff, planning, review, and townhall) and appropriate formats for each. Particular emphasis is placed on how to conduct effective team meetings, and how to avoid the things that lead to bad meetings. You will learn:

Human Performance Improvement

This course provides skills for dealing effectively with employee issues of attendance, tardiness, quality of work, and other aspects of job performance. Techniques for discussing performance with employees and counseling them on work-related issues will be covered. Participants can expect to learn:

Human Relations for Teachers

The focus of these sessions will be on the improvement of interpersonal skills through studying several distinct personalities that are common in the workplace. By developing a better understanding of ourselves and those with whom we work, we become more effective by anticipating how people will react to our initiatives and by knowing how to respond to them. Students will learn:

Interviewing Skills & Techniques

This session will present the skills needed to assess candidates, appraise performance, gather information, counsel employees, and discipline employees. Special emphasis will be placed on equal employment opportunity law. Students will lean how to:

Legal Aspects of Supervision

Covers federal and state anti-discrimination laws, the discipline and discharge of employees, and the exposure liability of employers and supervisors for unlawful acts. Participants will learn:

- How federal and state courts are structured

- How to avoid unlawful acts

- How to handle a discipline situation

- What’s important in documentation

Managing Multiple Projects

(15 CPDUs, 3 CEUs)
Basic planning and execution skills properly applied can make the difference between success and failure of a project. Using project management tools and techniques can assure that projects hit the target date, meet cost goals, and satisfy your customer. This seminar begins by showing you how to break a project down into manageable steps. It teaches you how to coordinate people and resources to make things happen and will help you chart a course through the four phases of a project's life cycle.

Motivating Your Staff/Team to Succeed

(15 CPDUs, 3 CEUs)
Leadership and Motivation exmines and explores significant concepts of motivation and leadership. The importance of matching leadership style with employees, task complexity and the operating environment will be discussed. Students will learn:

Program Evaluation & Assessment:

This session for educational leaders is based on Fitzpatrick, Sanders, & Worthen's work Program Evaluation: Alternative Approaches and Guidelines. Participants will determine and discuss strategic approaches to assessing and evaluating educational, youth, and community development programs. Additional topics will include: (1) Aligning evaluation to the vision and mission, 2) determining the 'right' evaluation system for your program, 3) determining the efficient use of human and material resources through effective evaluation, 4) the required skills/competencies for assessment balance and quality. 


Sexual Harassment Identification

(10 CPDUs, 2 CEUs)
Sexual harassment identification is for supervisors, managers, or anyone who is interested in what constitutes this behavior so that they will be able to take the appropriate actions to eliminate problems before they start. Participants will learn:
- How to identify sexual harassment behavior

Stress Management & Control

This session looks at major causes of stress and various techniques to successfully manage stress. You will learn:

Time Management
